Tim Buckley...final episode...The Monkees

JimT
Tim Buckley has always been a favorite of mine.  His history is both tragic and intriguing.  His son, Jeff, was also a talented artist that left us too soon.

About 6 months ago I discovered that he was on the final episode of The Monkees and have been looking for that video.  I finally found it using bing.  I hope you enjoy seeing this video...I have.

If you are not familiar with Tim any internet search will show a wealth of information.

That's a beautiful song Jim. I read-up on him and he sounds like a tortured artist who was sometimes his own worst enemy. How did he end up on an episode of the Monkees doing a serious song? Did they regularly have other performers on their show?

Great find, Jim, I have never heard that song before. Very cool, how did you know about this particular performance?

That is a very moving song. It is nothing like the music that I am most familiar with from Tim, mainly that would be cuts off "Greetings From L.A." but it is an excellent acoustic song.

Paul,

I had to look...I'm not that big of a Monkees fan :-).  They had some other artists on...including Zappa.

Mark,

I found the reference to the Monkees show on Tim's Anthology LP.  The LP had the audio but I wanted to see it done live...since it was recorded.  I couldn't find it on youtube and if google found it I couldn't see it through the clutter.

Seymouro,

Tim started out folk rock and morphed...too quickly to be popular...from what I read.  I don't remember when I first heard him...but it was in his folk rock stage.

Regards,
Jim

What a nice tune, thanks.  Honestly, I was more familiar with Jeff.  I can see that soulful musical expression ran in the family.

I don't know enough about Tim or Jeff to differentiate the two musically. I first heard the Buckley name when they used to play it all the time on the original "River" radio station back when Anne Delisi was a DJ there but I don't recall which one of the two it was. I have some Jeff Buckley songs from his Grace album which includes the song "Hallelujah" that was done by the dreadlock guy on American Idol last year.
