Brain Jones was the force behind incredibly ahead of it's time with unprecedented instrumental contributions . The guy could literally play everything. Harp, keyboards, strings, in short, instruments that you never expected to hear coning from an emerging 1960's rock and roll band.
Two compelling examples of musical talent he provided that were never equalled in the band's lengthy history are attached here. One is "Dandelion" and the other is "She's like a Rainbow" - from "Their Satanic Majesty's Request". What a musician he was (this was the 60's)! The latter was written about Maryanne Faithful... who was described by many as the most beautiful woman in the world in the mercurial '60's.
By the way...they are still today the only old-line band from the 1960's that
still produce new material every time before they embark on tours that gross so much $$ that they could lead the auto industry out of trouble if they were motivated...sorry, but I don't believe
that they are.
My entire family grew up in England and hated the "Rolling Uglies".
