Rolling Stones ... with Brian Jones

Seymouro
Brain Jones was the force behind incredibly ahead of it's time with unprecedented instrumental contributions . The guy could literally play everything. Harp, keyboards, strings, in short, instruments that you never expected to hear coning from an emerging 1960's rock and roll band.

Two compelling examples of musical talent he provided that were never equalled in the band's lengthy history are attached here. One is "Dandelion" and the other is "She's like a Rainbow" - from "Their Satanic Majesty's Request". What a musician he was (this was the 60's)! The latter was written about Maryanne Faithful... who was described by many as the most beautiful woman in the world in the mercurial '60's.

By the way...they are still today the only old-line band from the 1960's that still produce new material every time before they embark on tours that gross so much $$ that they could lead the auto industry out of trouble if they were motivated...sorry, but I don't believe that they are.

My entire family grew up in England and hated the "Rolling Uglies".

As you could guess, NOT ME...

Two of my favorite Rolling Stones songs!  Brian Jones must be the reason I only own their older tunes!

Thanks for posting!

Dave, you're too radical to not like a band like the Stones. For the record, my FIRST LP record was "Let it Bleed" by the Stones and I bought it from Dave, AKA "Seymouro," and I still have it

I've always been a big Stones fan and my fav album is "Let it Bleed." So many great songs on that one but it only slightly edges out many others. Brian was one of the early inovators but I'm a fan of every iteration of the Stones.

I've always thought that Keith has always been an underrated guitar player and was overshadowed by Brian. Even after Brian's demise Keith never seemed to get his due, mostly ridicule about his bad habits and how time has taken it's toll on him. Sad because I love his guitar work and think he's brilliant musically.

That brings me back.
My sister Pat convinced my mother to let me go to see the Stones on November 24, 1969.  Me and Walt Jaehn and Pat had a great time.  (I was 14).

I found a picture from that Detroit concert on the web.
