R.E.M. Man on the Moon

Seymouro
I don't like most of this band's stuff, but "Man on the Moon" is way cool.

I always did like Peter Lawrence Buck as a lead guitarist, just was not generally fond of Michael Stipe's vocals. The "wild west" effects are cool, and Buck sounds a little reminiscent of Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.

Both are outstanding in this song. The lyrics can be taken many ways, but I think it was more a tribute to the natural curiosity and "goofing" that was Andy Kaufman's trademark.

I saw a show about Andy not long ago and they mentioned that REM loved him so whatever the song is about I'm sure it had a positive meaning. In general I think they're a good band but not one I would pay to see.

What Walter said.

But I did see a special recently about Jim Carrey playing the roll of Andy in the Movie about him that was quite interesting. How he stayed in character for months before the shooting.
