Pink Floyd was, and remains, an undeniably incredible force in music, with Roger Waters in the band or with David Gilmour going it without him, with the rest of what is an all-star ensemble.
I, for one applaud Gilmour telling Waters basically, to go f--- himself when Waters FAILED to communicate with the rest of the band, and essentially said it was done.
But as awesome as "Momentary Lapse" and "Division Bell" were, the "yin" that went with the "yang" was lost with those developments.
Waters was always clearly the pessimist. David Gilmour was the optimist. Somehow, the twain was hard to meet, and I feel, was also a wedge between them as artists. The band was happy (in my opinion) to have a shot at the "other side", and it was an enormous success after Waters split.
But my clips here are the creation of Roger.
"Animals" was a nasty but unrivaled work that exposed "human" nature at it's nadir. It was arguably darker than even Black Sabbath at its' bottom. Not pretty, but food for thought at the level of Filet Mignon and Lobster Tails...and awesome loudness.
Hope you have about half an hour...
