Nice. Did not realize that Mason was using the sitar that early on but Paper Sun is an old song. Hard to believe over 50 years. Wow. And what a career Winwood has had.
How is it that the sitar from classical Indian music fits in so well with psychedelia? This is fabulous and features one of Mark's top 10 from the 70's
Bob, Seymouro has an extremely wide interest in music. More so than me I believe and I think my interests are wide. Besides my older bro, Seymouro is responsible for getting me interested in a lot of music. Another influencer would be Edward (a member who hasn't been here in a while) and his older bro. I still have the 1st LP I ever owned, Let it Bleed by the Stones, and was given to me by Seymouro. Still one of my favorite albums of all time and made me a Stones fan.
I agree with you on all counts. Especially regarding Paul Horn. We listened to some truly groundbreaking music partying at Jim Bongiorno's house with Ed and Paul.
I think I was first exposed to things like Mahavishnu Orchestra (Birds of Fire in particular) with Paul or my friend, the late Dan Marsh. And even "Spectrum" with Billy Cobham. Return to Forever, Stanley Clarke, et al.
