I won't ever leave You want me to stay Nothin' you could do That could turn me away Hangin' on anyway Believin' the things you say Being a fool "You've taken my life So take my soul" That's what you said And I believed it all "I wanna be with you Long as you want me to But don't move away" Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Liar Liar, liar We have seen no night We have seen no day If I ever leave But you want me to stay "You can believe in me I won't be leavin' I won't let you go" Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Liar Liar, liar Liar Liar, liar "You've taken my life So take my soul" That's what you said But who are we to know? "I wanna be with you Long as you want me to But don't move away" Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Liar Liar, liar Liar Liar, liar |

Yeah, that's a pretty heavy song. I remember back when this was on the radio I never paid much attention to lyrics but as I listen to this now I have a totally different perspective. I remember back in the early 80's whilst playing a live show I dedicated "Southern Man" to the guy that hired us because he was from the south. I was surprised when he got pissed and I didn't understand why until years later
![]() I think this is my favorite Three Dog Night tune: |
Ya, a great song. Kinda funny, and kinda true for one guy a few times. 😀 |
Not to put you on the spot Mark, but I’d love to hear a brief recap on your trek thru the music scene. |

Liar is great old tune Grado. They are in great sync.
As for Mama Told Me Not To Come, that is a classic too. Since I have this album, let's make it a triage. Thanks to Robbie Robertson from The Band (writer). \ |
Three Dog Night Was a great band. I wonder what happened to those guys and why didn't they make a comeback like so many other bands from the 70's? I remember their hits being played on "The Big 8" in Dee-troit when I was a wee lad.

Yeah, how about a run down on some history. I know you been around and by the sound of your original songs you had a lot of influences. |

Actually there's not much of a tale to tell and that's partly because I can't remember much of what happened in the 80's ![]() First actual band that gigged for money was called The Prowlers that started in 1977. We were a rock cover band and we changed the name several times to keep our bad reputation from being associated with the band. Oh my lord the stuff we did back then was out of control. By the time we broke up around 1980 I needed to dry out badly from drinking and other stuff. I had already been writing original songs and wanted out of playing covers so I hooked up with an awesome drummer named Bob who had a studio in the basement of his house in Detroit. We started a musicians workshop called "The East of 8-Mile Jam Session" that became a revolving door of musicians and we played five to six nights a week for a couple years until I developed hand issues from over playing and very little sleep. Our goal was to create a rock fusion band and hit the road as an opener for a major act TBD but by the time I recovered all the players had moved on so that plan was dashed. After that my brother (drummer) and I started a rock trio playing originals and we played local bars and sat in with other bands in the area. After that I went back to school full time for a couple years, got married, spent time renovating our house, etc, and it wasn't until around 2005 when I joined a worship band and tech team at our church. That lasted two or three years and after that I set up a modest home studio and focused mainly on recording solo stuff. In addition myself and a few other guys have maintained a casual fun band known as "The Blues Scorchers" for over 20 years and we play at my house AKA "Mark's House Of Blues" where anyone interested can come and listen. I also do still get out and play live occasionally these days. That's it. I have a bio as well as some pictures and a few videos on my music web site if you're interested. Woah, that timeline is almost 47 years! Yeah, I bet anyone involved in music for that long is gonna have some pretty interesting stories, especially from when they're in their teens and twenties. It's no wonder you have some cool songs too because you've had many years to practice ![]() Oh, I checked out your web site. Looks very pro man, did you create it? |

I had to do a quick check on Wikipedia to find out that those guys are actually still around, just not popular enough for us to know about. Of course they've had their share of personnel changes and deaths but some of the originals are still going. What I also read was that most or all of their songs were written by song writers including Randy Newman. |

Thanks for the compliments, Walt. Yes, I did create the website but it wasn't difficult because Weebly has builder tools so I didn't need to use HTML like I did when I first created the site 15 years ago. |
