Hey Joe

Grado
#1.  Billy Robert’s.  Credited as the original.
But even that is a point of conjecture.

#2. The Leaves.  Pulled Hey Joe from obscurity, years after
it was first released.  The version Jimmie first heard on a jukebox in a New York coffee shop.

#3. Of probably hundreds of versions……
well…….you know.

Oh I really like the Billy Roberts version and the lyrics are a little different on that one. I've always been a big fan of that particular song and I've played it live many times in the past (Jimi's version).

Here is another great one that was included on a compilation album I have called "Stoned Free - A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix" which has a bunch of great tunes by various artists. This one is by Ice Tea and Body Count:

I've always loved that song. Radical lyrics for sure and I also really like the Billy Roberts version. The Ice Tea version was a pleasant surprise since I'm not a fan but he did a great job on that one!

Like them all. Never heard "The Leaves" before, or the original Billy Roberts.

They definitely reworked the lyrics but I like Billy's.

Somehow I have the same compilation of various artists and I love the Ice T/Body Count version of this a great deal.

Same here. It's a great tune and I love hearing all of the different versions. Good job fellas.
