The weather is cooling off and I've been jonesing for some old school ROCK and Gamma fits the bill. Long overlooked but in my mind an all time killer group was Ronnie Montrose's band, Gamma, and Gamma 1 was my favorite album.

Oh man, Gamma was a great band! Here's a fun fact: there have been lots of songs called "I'm Alive" including the 2nd song on Gamma 1, but Gamma's version is a re-do of the original done by the Hollies in 1965. Here are both:

Well, I like anything Montrose was part of and this stuff is really good. Definitely sounds dated but still great!. The I'm Alive videos are really cool and I never heard the Hollies version. Nice.

Another one of my fav's off that album is the instrumentel, Solar Heat, which goes right into Ready For Action and MUST be played together. Solar Heat doesn't really take off till a minute in but it's worth the slow intro.

   Enjoy mates!
