For You Blue - A Harrison song with Lennon on lap steel

This vid is intereating because, even though the Beatles used the lap steel guitar on a bunch of songs, it's the only time I've actually SEEN it being played. You can tell that John isn't a steel player by the way he holds the "steel" slide which in this case is actually a Bic disposable lighter. Ha!

This is good stuff. Enjoy!

Good one Mark. It's not so easy to find a lot of live Beatles performances and this is very enjoyable.
That guitar looks very similar to the one I saw you first use. Maybe the lighter gives it that very raw sound.
I know that will be stuck in my head for a while now.
Thanks

Awesome...there must be telepathic communication going on here.

I was going to post this bad boy myself...

Oh well, then here is a bonus - since you sent this one.

Fitting for the day.

Have you seen your dentist recently? Better check...

Another great example of how innovative Mr. Harrison always was.

Almost nobody noticed.

In fact, when the man finally was "noticed" because of "All Things Must Pass", a quiet and reflective genius was silenced (or at least diminished greatly) by that ridiculous plagiarism suit that was won for the "Chiffons", stating that George plagiarized that song "He's So Fine" with "My Sweet Lord".

Now I am no musician. But I can clearly see how anyone could have a melody in their mind, then create a new piece of work that absolutely and unintentionally, was derived from previous recordings.

Another example would be "Meadows", by Joe Walsh. The guitar riffs sounded just like Ritchie Blackmore's in "My Woman From Tokyo". It was accidental and no harm was done.

I think that George suffered from repression and insecurity for most of his career. He remains in my mind the most honest, caring, humble and talented soul that I can ever recall in any venue of society. I truly love the man to the core. Not just the musician, but the man.

He relinquished his wife (Patty Boyd) to his dear friend Eric Clapton because he felt that it was in the best interest of all parties. Are you kidding me? WHO do you know that would ever make a move like that!

George Harrison is truly the Lamb.

Consumate team player and the one who always recognized the truth and the honorable thing to do. And did it EVERY time.
