Dream Theater

Paul Wargo
Well guys, I can't wait any longer. I feel I must put on an example of my favorite contemporary progressive rock groups. They're a little on the heavy side but their musicianship is undeniable. JP and I and our friend Denny Smith saw them live at Pine Knob a few years back and our socks were certainly knocked off.
I wonder how many roadies the drummer has.
This comes in two parts.........

yes, another great one. I don't hear any "Blind Faith" in there but..... ya gotta love the high quality audio and visual in most the DT performances on youtube.

Thanks Paul, a great jam.

Portnoy names Neil Peart as his biggest influence, and you can sure hear it come through in his playing!  He handles the changing time signatures in this tune with ease...or at least makes it look like it's easy for him.

Wowie... that's just craziness. How in the world do these guys remember all those changes? Their syncopation (playing notes at the same time) is spot-on at break-neck speed and they make it look easy which it ain't. This is about the heaviest music we've had here on the Vid of the Week forum and it's awesome. These vid's are obviously shot to showcase the drums and what a kit Portnoy has. I'd like to know how it all works because he's got tons of stuff. I didn't know that Neil Pert was an influence but after seeng this it makes sense.

Good Job, Paul
