I think that this was the last Cream song.
That group ended with a great one. |

Excellent song! Fun fact... I was originally scheduled to play this tune at Jamuary 2019 but it got nixed during rehearsals and Johnny D, AKA John DeDecker (keyboards) was pissed because he really wanted to play it. I am bummed that Jamuary did not happen this year. Dan Scott (organizer/promoter) hinted about doing it but that's as far as it went, at least AFAIK. I was already practicing songs in anticipation!

Well, if that is in fact true then they ended on a high note because that's always been a favorite of mine and I love Cream. IMO... Cream was Clapton's best work. The version they did when they reunited was great too. I don't recall what year that was and I believe it was at the Royal Albert Hall. I need to dig that one up. |

What is Jamuary? I have never heard of this. Concert of some sort? Why was Badge nixed? I can't imagine that happening. |

IMO... Cream was Clapton's best work. ________________________________________________________ I think you, me, and a lot of other people think the same exact thing. |
Ya nice. George Harrison dropping a riff in. |

And how the hell did I not know this? After reading your post I went to Wikipedia and found this quote: Harrison remembered the story thus: "I helped Eric write "Badge" you know. Each of them had to come up with a song for that Goodbye Cream album and Eric didn't have his written. We were working across from each other and I was writing the lyrics down and we came to the middle part so I wrote 'Bridge.' Eric read it upside down and cracked up laughing – 'What's BADGE?' he said. After that, Ringo [Starr] walked in drunk and gave us that line about the swans living in the park." |

Jamuary is basically a hall party that occurs every year in January and thus the name. The music is supplied by a 10-piece house band accompanied by many guest artists that play for 6+ hours. The total number of musicians is generally around 40 and the audience is generally around 800. Unfortunately the last Jamuary was held in 2020 just as covid began and has not happened since. I thought it would resume this year but did not happen. I honestly don't recall why BADGE was nixed but some songs got cut due to time constraints. |

Well……..when it came out that riff had Beatles written all over it. It just sounded like Harrison’s guitar. Apparently they traded off on a few songs back then. I believe there are a few of George’s songs, his solo stuff, where Eric returned the favor. No credits, just friends helping each other out. Different times, before the labels got super greedy I’ve read. |
Hey now baby…….get into my big black car…..</>
This one, off Wheels of Fire, kinda reminds me of Badge. https://youtu.be/WOPDzD_P9gg |
Oh yeah, cool tune man. I haven't heard this in a while so... is it just me or does it sound like there are two songs playing at the same time during parts of the songs. Kinda like they overdubbed a second guitar but it wasn't playing in time or something. I assume they may have done this to add some weirdness? A much later version is not like that: |
