Art In America by Art In America

OK, I dredged this from the forgotten vault, a vintage 1983 gem by a band that started in Detroit then moved to CA. I LOVED this and still really like it a lot. Sort of prog/art rock if I had to put a label on it and was (and as far as I know still is) the only rock band that featured the orchestral harp.

I only vaguely recall this song from back in the 80's and I don't think I've heard it since then. Too bad no one writes songs like this any  more.

Nice! As I recall this song got some airplay on MTV back in the 80's.... back when they actually played some decent music.

Does MTV even play music at all? No idea, I stopped watching it long, long ago. I remember being excited about a Michigan based band being on MTV. It's too bad that band didn't go farther. I looked them up recently and was surprised to see the lead guy (forget his name at the moment) recorded some songs recently and they sounded pretty good and his voice, which I like a lot, still sounds the same as it did in the 80's.

I just learned that Steve Morse co-arranged all of the songs and played guitar on one of the tracks:

Steve Morse had his hands in a lot of stuff over the years so it's not a huge surprise but it is very interesting.

Thanks guys for bringing this back up. I had to get down and pull this back out and hear it again!

Didn't know the thing about Steve Morse. Not surprising.
