Alice Cooper Reunion

I watched a show about the Alice Cooper Band on PBS recently that was taped last year in Dallas. Basically, this guy that owns a record store is an AC super fan and invited the original surviving band (minus Alice) to play some songs at the store to coincide with a Dennis Dunaway book signing. This guy picked a date when Alice was playing in Dallas and picked a day when Alice had the day off and was scheduled to golf. The band agreed and when Alice caught wind of this he also agreed to play. It was wild to see the original band (minus the Late Glen Buxton) play in a music store where the owner had to bust a hole in the back wall to create a secret entrance for Alice to enter and exit the venue to prevent being mobbed by fans.

Here is one song from that event:

There are not a lot of good videos of the old band with Glen but I did find this this gem from 1971. I had to use a URL because the embed code for this one is not allowed:

I wasn't a huge Cooper fan but this is really cool. I learned that the "Alice Cooper" character was invented by the band and Vincent later legally changed his name to that. There is some interesting history on Wikipedia.

I read somewhere that after Alice played at the record store, the original guys joined him on at least part of his tour. that's really cool.

I remember having ABX on the first time I heard this one, like it was yesterday.

Had the Killer album two days later.

 Very cool Mark.

I remember riding in the back seat of a friends station wagon, 8 of us, sitting next to one of the best looking girls in our circle, she was so good looking I had a hard time just talking to her lol, all of us just out of high school, nobody knowing what we were gonna do, nobody had a plan, we were all 18, just singing along to the AM radio in the dash, at the top of our lungs, totally without a clue, and loving every minute of it.

Every time I hear it, that scene, that little space in time,
flashes thru me head, and I smile just a bit.

Ya, thanks Mark.

I tell you guys, I’ve been to a lot of shows.
But if they ever get together and come back to your area,
there are 2 bands that you just can not miss.

Pink Floyd is one, and the other, Alice Cooper.

Both, more than a concert, they put on a freakin Show!

Lookin him up, I was kinda surprised he’s still doing
this stuff.  He gets hanged, he’s a big tooth with a cavity
getting drilled out, and most of all loses his head.
😄
Ya, this back in the 70s was just over the top.

Sadly, I think the days of Floyd touring is long over and I believe Gilmour officially retired. That said I did go see Brit Floyd which is basically a tribute band that was approved by Gilmour and they are GREAT. Sitting at the concert with poor eyesight you would think you were at an actual Floyd concert but in a small venue. In my case it was the Detroit Opera House:

Liane and I saw Brit Floyd at the Genesee Theater in Waukegan, IL last spring.

It was as solid as Floyd themselves. Of course Waters, Gilmour and others wrote all the Floyd stuff and get full cred for the brilliance of the material.

Cool you went.
The original guys are so rich they don’t want toget off their butts screw em.

It’s cool someone is carrying on.
Great tunes.

I suppose if I had their money I wouldn't be too motivated to go on tour considering those boys are in their upper seventies. All of our rock star heroes are rapidly going away in one way or another. Sad.

Ok, so now I need to go see Alice before he decides to call it quits and Brit Floyd. Thanks for the good info.
