A little bit of STANLEY CLARKE (School Days)...

Seymouro
No Stanley Cup got you down?

THEN how 'bout a little Stanley Clarke!

I believe that Mark was with me at Masonic Auditorium around 1980 when we witnessed Stanley wail on his bass guitar s-o-o hard that he cut his fingers to bits and had to take a break to make repairs.

Well, the vid is 1985 and he lost his signature 'fro, but none of his ability that was on display through interludes with Return to Forever and Mr. Jeffrey Beck among others.

Works for me. Hope it does for all of you!

Great video of Stanley! The audio sync was off, but still a rare classic worth watching! I actually haven't listened to him for a long time. Mainly because I just own him on vinyl, which I hear is making a comeback.

Yep, I still have School Days on vinyl. I made a cassette copy of that album back in the day and had it cranked in my car counless times. Stanley is one ROCKIN' bass player and was the first one that I knew of that played lead bass. He could really whip a tune into a frenzy. The Last thing I bought of his was "If this Bass Could Talk" and was very good although much jazzier that his old fusion style. I don't think he's done a whole lot since then... at least not that I know of.

Excellent.  As Mark once said of the late Dave Carpenter...Stanley is like a guitar player disguised as a bassist.  Thanks Dave.

When he walks out, look at those white people clapping on beats 1 and 3.  Nnnooooo!!
