Paul, you were successful.

Man, Buddy just oozes personality and every time I've seen him play he always had a big smile on his face. He was a drumming machine and he looked so relaxed even though he was playing super up-tempo and with extreme acuracy... and that goes for the rest of his band as well. My dad loved big band jazz and he was a huge Buddy Rich fan as seen below in a photo that was taken with a concert poster. I believe this was taken in 1942 whilst he was in the service and was posing with a drum kit made of  boxes and cans.

What a great photo. When Jim and Jerry and me and Mike were just starting out my drum kit was made out of cardboard boxes. I wonder what that is he's using for a stick. Just goes to show.....the music just has to get out somehow. You and your brothers certainly picked that up.

Yep, I love that photo. He wasn't a musician but was a huge big band fan his entire life. If a person could only pick one genre that would not be a bad pick.
