Liane just received a load of gifts we ordered from the United Airlines website for reward points. She has accumulated nearly 1,400 points since 2008 and they are discontinuing the program (thanks, Covid-19).
So we picked a portable carryable 1080p TV , a set of golf clubs and a bunch of CDs.
We had asked for a CD of "With the Beatles" but it was out of stock. So i asked her to get "Essential Black Sabbath" in its place. We got that but were VERY pleasantly surprised to also receive a vinyl copy of "With the Beatles" on Parlophone/EMI! A remastered copy from 2009. It is 18 grams and is twice the thickness of any vinyl copy I have. It just got off the turntable. This YouTube vid is from the copy and as you can see (hear) it sounds a crisp as a sunny early autumn day.
I wanted it mainly because I remember the Jamuary band doing this one...with Mike Gould singing. The backing vocals are legendary. They did not write this song, no mind. It's bloody good.
People ask me which genre of the Beatles I like best. Early days, the Sgt Peppers era or Abbey Road/Let it Be and all I can say is ALL of it.
