Spirit. I got a line on you.

Grado

Here’s the guys that Jimmy Page opened for when Zepplin
went on tour for the first time.
And supposedly ripped Stairway off of the song the do called Tarus.

Does that guy look likeGene Simmons or what?

Haha, that's an interesting observation about Gene Simmons but Randy California invented the look so Gene is the copy cat in this case!  FYI, Randy's last name was actually Wolfe and the name "California" was given to him by Jimi Hendrix to differentiate him from another Randy.

I have never seen or heard this version of "I've got a line on you" which is a great version. What's even more interesting to me is seeing Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on guitar because I had no idea that he was in Spirit and was very animated in this video. EXCELLENT!!!

Love that song. Had no idea about Skunk ever playing in that band.

As for the rip off of songs, I have always had a problem with that concept. Zeppelin is most notorious for not giving credits to a few old line black blues artists but I don't buy the Stairway To Heaven deal.

Same with that Chiffons' "He's So Fine" getting ripped off supposedly by George Harrison in "My Sweet Lord". Sometimes I think a musician just gets a piece of music or an entire riff in his/her head from listening to music and there is an unintended consequence of similarity.

I was just listening to some Spirit yesterday! I also never knew that Jeff Baxter was in that band. How did we just find that out after all this time?
