Roger Daltrey - After the Fire

Seymouro
I found this great...the CD "Under a Raging Moon" is out of print and very rare. A new one goes for about $45 on Amazon. I have a near mint copy!

The Who (or what is left of it) will be at Joe Louis next October. Cliff is going. I love these guys but I can't stand going to see them now. I want them to remain in my memory just as Mark and I saw them at Masonic Auditorium in 1979.

Townshend wrote this one, ironically for Roger to do with his solo group.

Daltrey and Robert Plant have the best rock voices of all time! Honorable mention David Bowie. I love Mick, but I am talking about vocal quality. He's in the mix.

By the way, the song was to raise money to stop apartheid in South Africa and to get Nelson Mandela released from jail. Mission accomplished.

Yes indeed Walter.

My friend Mike and I were on our way to work the day after Thanksgiving at about 8:00 when WABX announced that tickets were going on sale at 9:00 for the Who concert to be held November 30, 1979. Limit 2 per customer, I was about the 30th person in line and copped balcony tickets, 5th row, center and decided to take Mark.

Daltrey was swinging his mic like a madman. Townshend windmilling enough to power up the whole city and the late, great John Entwistle not moving a muscle except for his hands.

One in a lifetime opportumity fulfilled.

One of the most memorable concerts I ever attended and still tell the story on a regular basis. It was a more intimate show that they did a night or two before one that they did at a large venue (Silverdome?). I still remember Pete remarking on how they used to abuse their equipment and had to stop because it got too expensive and then began kicking the crap out of one of the stage monitors. Rock does not get any better than that.
