Philip Lynott and Thin Lizzy

Seymouro
Happy Thanksgiving my friends and surviving turkeys...Pee-ta is calling for you. What's that Pee-ta? OH! PETA!

Mark and I attended a concert at Royal Oak Music Theater and observed the crowd booing an upstart, somewhat insignificant warm up band named AC/DC off the stage. Wow.

Then we dug in for the main course, Ireland's talented but ultimately ill-fated Thin Lizzy, featuring immensely talented but opiate addicted Philip Lynott on lead vocal and bass. Too bad. Him and Tommy Bolin, similar time frame.

Love these. "Fighting My Way Back" has dreadful audio, (most all of these clips do) but is still way cool, aye?

Beautiful ballad follows. Same album. Isn't it simply incredible how adept hard-driving bands are at creating beautiful ballads. The guitar solo is prettier than Courtney Cox...

"Cowboy Song" live from Sydney, Australia in 1978...

"Johnny the Fox"..."Jimmy the Weed for greed...Johnny the Fox, you old sly dog..."

And, finally, from the album "Fighting" (again) the classic "Suicide"...

And by the way, Ted Nugent made a comment that he'd "P-ss on Philip Lynott's grave for him wasting away on the H." Drugs are a bad scene but "Terrible Ted" is too PC for my liking. And he is not the man sitting in judgment. He's just a big mouth. And really, if you compare material contributed to the "art" in the "day", what is higher quality, Lizzy songs like these or shamelessly commercial and superficial BS like "Wango Tango" and "Cat Scratch Fever". PLEASE. Shut up Ted and go hunt buffalo or whatever it is that gets the blood flowing. But just shut up already!

Thin Lizzy ranks near the top of my all-time fave hard rock bands of the mid 70's. I can't believe that they've been overlooked until now so good job of dredging these up... especially the obscure "Suicide" which is my favorite TL song.

Don't bother reading the rubbish comments on YT but what's interesting about them is all the talk about Gary Moore...ha! He was only in 1 of the 4 vid's you posted so those guys don't even know who they're watching! Anyway, TL always featured 2 guys playing Les Paul's through Marshall amp's which gave their signature sound. The two I liked most were Brain Robertson and Scott Gorham who were the players on the first two vid's.
