Patsy Cline

Grado
This post was updated on .
The girl went from a dirt poor childhood, to a superstar in her field.

Determined, she would just show up at radio stations as a young teen, and talk her way
onto singing live.  Rejected by the iconic Grand Ol Opry, she would prevail and dominate
the country western music scene, on her own terms.

A religious woman, that still lived a mortals life.  Stricken with a severe case of strep throat, she claimed to have met God when she almost died, who  told her it just wasn't her time.  Her voice changed due to that illness, giving her that deep, throaty tone she would become famous for.

She would have premonitions of her death weeks before her demise, carrying on to sing at a charity event, that would prove to be her final performance.

One of the greats, Patsy Cline.

Maybe her biggest crossover hit, Crazy, written by none other than Willie Nelson.
Sung at the peak of her career, she had but 2 years left to live.

She was the proverbial "one of a kind" that you know who it is the second you hear her voice. IMO the awesomest female country singer of all time.

Oh for sure, what a talent. It's hard to imagine her being rejected by the Grand Ol Opry. What were they thinking back then? Good ol' Willie cashed in on that one and I'm sure he's still getting royalty checks for that one. I hate to admit this but I had to google to make sure he's still alive because I wasn't sure with all of the legends dying off so often these days.

Last I heard he was still kicking. Quit smoking the wacky da backy, or so he said.
This was maybe 6 months ago.

From what I gather Willie was a pretty well known, and big part of the country western scene, back in the 50s.
