One hits. Got any?

Grado

Took me 2 days to remember who did this one.  If I remember correctly it was a band formed by Pete Townsend of The Who, as a favor to a friend.

How interesting. I sure do remember that song but I never knew that Townshend was involved.

How about "All Right Now" by Free? Just off hand I don't remember any other song by those guys.

I think you're right Bob.   Ya, All Right Now was a staple.  I still hear it now and then.
I'm not sure, but I think the singer went on to start Bad Company.
Another great band.

And I don't remember anything else they did either.

Here's another one.

Something about the female that can belt it out always got me.
Janis J, Patsey Cline, Fionia Apple, effing powerful sexy.

And here's one from 1969.  I think it's a Bert Bacharach song.  The Beatles covered it.
And a few others.  Great song.

But Gayle McCormick and A Band Called Smith did a version that sold more than any of them.

Ya, Gayle McCormick......powerful sexy.

Man, Gayle McCormick can really belt out a tune!!!

On this topic the first song that came to mine for some reason is this one. I can probably think of a bunch more though.

Paul Rogers was the singer for Free and Bad Co. Classic rock singer. I still have the All Right Now 45

Ambrosia was cool but there was one song in particular that I still LOVE called Holding On To Yesterday from 1975. I don't know if it was actually a hit but I know it got airplay. Here is Ambrosia still getting it done in 2016:

Do you guys remember the band 707?  They had a hit in 1980 that I thought was really cool... actually still sounds good to me. Here they are on Midnight Special in 81:

Hey guys.  How about this one.
Fiona Apple.
Another one that can belt it out.
Criminal, was her one big hit. I bought the cassette and bout wore it out.

Smooth, sexy, deep and smoky.  And a bad, bad girl to boot

Yikes.

This post was updated on .
Never heard this on on the radio.
I guess it wasn't snappy enough.
But it sure connected with me.

Once my lover, now my friend.
What a cruel thing to pretend.
What a cunning way to condescend.
Once my lover, and now my friend

She sounds so smokey hot.

Here's two for the price of one. Definite one-hit wonders from the 70's.

Whatever did happen to Fiona apple? Now that you bring her up it seems odd that she died out so quick. I honestly thought she was going to hang around for a while.

I have not heard Ride Captian Ride in a long time. What a great tune that I almost totally forgot about. Great pick! I loved that song when it was a hit.

It's pretty cool.....a lot of what is getting put up def isn't mainstream.
It's that song that was a big part of a long life, for but a blip in time.

Life in miniature.

Here's another.  One of the great drum solos of that era, of which there were a lot of.

A quick quiz.  What was the original name of this slab of vinyl.

A.  Go an get me a pizza baby. (pepperoni and onions too).
B.  In the Garden of Eden.
C.  Inagaddadavida.
D.  Lotta lovin between us baby.  (don't know what I'd do without you).

Ya, from a time when everyone got a solo.....

Man, is there any other song that's over 17 minutes long?

Grado, I can answer the name question, it's B. In a garden of Eden. I remember that from way back... something about slurring the name and sounded like Inagaddadavida and somehow it stuck. Something like that to the best of my limited memory.

Listening to it now it sounds like the fuzz guitar on Blues theme and the singer sounds like John Kay.

Ah yes, good ol' ? and the Mysterians. I think I still have the 45 of this song because I have all of the surviving collection that me and my brother had and we had this one. These guys are a Michigan band and they were big here back in the day. Not sure how they did everywhere else.
