Jonny Lang

Mark Ranich
I was introduced to Jonny Lang  not too long ago through my friend Dan Loch who sings his song "Lie to Me" in one of the bands he plays in.  I also saw Jonny Lang live (and free) at the Mt Clemens Stars and Stripes Festival last summer and he was awesome.

The link below is to Jonny Lang's website where it has a music video of his song Red Light.  It also has a music player with several of his songs from his new "gospel" album Turn Around.

What impresses me about him is that he really expresses alot of "soul" in his music for a young person.

I remember "Lie to me" from when it was on the radio but I haven't heard it in a while. It's an exceptionally cool song and what an amazing singer he is... instantly recognizable. I also really like his vocals on "Groundhog Day" by Double Trouble. I listened to the songs on his website and on the one titled "One person at a time" the vocal harkens back to his earlier stuff. I actually didn't know that he played guitar but apparently he's pretty good at it. It's interesting that he did a Gospel album which is cool because it's nice to hear lyrics with a possitive message. The music actually sounds "Gospelish" with the organ and background singers and some of it even reminds me of Stevie Wonder.

OK, I'm done for now.  Thanks.

He said in an interview that he met Stevie Wonder and you can definitely see his influence on his new album.

Also, Michael McDonald contributed on the song "Thankful".
