Jigsaw Puzzle - From the Greatest R&R Band in the World

Seymouro
My favorite group will always be the Beatles.

But the Stones have to be the greatest rock and roll band of all time!

This song stuck in my head since NYE. How fortunate. Normally I get some crappy song stuck up there and I want to take a sledgehammer to my head to knock it out.

The lyrics, Nicky Hopkins' piano, Keef, and the guy doing the vocals are unreal!

I think of all of the Stones vast catalog of songs this one is lyrically my favorite of all. And for as simple the chord progression is the way it's played with all of the various elements the Stones make it very interesting to listen to. From what I've read the Stones have never played this song live which is a shame because I would think the band, Mick in particular, could have lots of fun with this one. I looked on YT and sure enough there are no live vid's of the Stones doing it but I did find this one. Have no idea who they are but they do an admirable job of covering it:

For real. And it starts right off the bat.

"There's a tramp sitting on my doorstep. Trying to waste his time. With his methylated sandwich, he's a walking clothesline."

What a curious visual that makes.

That cover band did a decent job on it.

Stones at their best for sure. Some really great tunes on that album and from that era for them. Just my opinion: 68-71 was their best.

I would agree 100% on that Walter.

I'd stretch it to '72 for "Exile on Main Street".
