Isley Brothers - Hope You Feel Better Love

Seymouro
Originally I was posting "Fight the Power" from the album by the same name, but chose instead primarily a cut from a band hailing from that notorious "City of Brotherly Love" that goes back seemingly to a time prior to when the Liberty Bell actually did crack...These guys were a force in the '50's!

I was all over "Fight The Power" because we in society today do not question decisions and those who make them enough these days. I am six months from my MBA and I really believe that it is actually just a money-grab for the University. I am learning very little. I feel that their motto is "just keep the $1,800 per class tuition coming baby! Now, I am not going radical or something. I just hate the high level of conformity and acceptance that is present throughout today's society. And it is present in times today that I feel are much more worrisome and threatening than those problems that we faced in the previous decades.

Someone, anyone, needs to step up and demand better solutions and answers to problems that we face today, and more timely answers! Might be me. Or one of you...

Politics over. Music now. The h-e double-hockey sticks with it. I am posting both cuts. "Fight the Power" and "Hope You Feel Better Love".

Great funky groove on "fight the power".
We haven't met but I think you're like the rest of us, early 50s, a product of the late 60s-early 70s, when questioning authority was all the rage. Our moms and dads came through the great depression and world war II and fought hard for the economic security that we enjoyed in those days. The security that allowed us to "question" while enjoying 3 squares, a roof over our head, and the comfort of knowing that no one would mess with us. History runs in cycles and many powerful societies have risen and fallen and risen again. China, Egypt, Rome, England, the United States.........

Of course, the issues today are many and intertwined. But getting back to economic strength is the first step. Money equals power.

Congratulations on your upcoming MBA. Education equals money

Mark should have a party so the whole vid of the week club can meet.

Paul, I think we can make that happen, maybe a summer BBQ or something.

Dave, great tunes. It's about time we got some funk on here. I love the Isley's... learned to play Hope You Feel Better Love back when I was a teen ager.
