Well, next week on 2/28/11 will mark two years since the first music video was posted on the Youtube Vid of the Week Forum. As of this posting there have been 164 video topics posted (many with mutiple vid's each) and countless responses. Speaking of countless, there was actually one vid in particular that went "viral" which was "Them" by Seymouro that got a massive 1217 views. Who was watching it all those times? One thing that has struck me from the beginning is how many views there are vs the number of replies for any given vid. What that tells me is either the same people are watching the same vid several times each, which makes sense, or there are folks watching that don't want to comment. Since there are no restictions to outsiders accessing the site other than the fact that it's not advertised, makes me wonder if in fact there are non-members checking us out. There's no way for me to know any of this stuff as the moderator so it will remain a mystery.
I thought from the beginning that this site would run its course after all of the good vid's had been posted and there was nothing of interest left except to repeat. I've even kept many of the old vid's from the pre-forum email days with the intent to put those up but I've never had to since y'all have kept coming up with fresh stuff. I think if the forum runs it's course it will be because either we all just get bored with it or more likely run out of time to devote to it. I'm pretty convinced now that we won't run out of tunes to post.
In any case I love this stuff and have enjoyed the whole thing and hope it goes for a good while longer.
Thanks for all the great vid's and corrispondance.
