Five Years - David Bowie

Seymouro
Don't let this get y'all down.

Just appreciate the brilliance of this legendary artist.

I include both the original studio version plus an incredible live one (with CLEARLY no lip synch) that was live on national TV on the Dinah Shore show in 1976.

Rare case where the live performance may have at least equaled, if not eclipsed the quality of the studio recording. Guitar chords I'm reasonably sure, were jazzier than the original. The vocals are actually stronger.  What a great work.

Original.

Man, I must be living a sheltered life because I don't remember this song. Not sure how that can be but I never had the album so I may not have ever heard it. One thing I noticed on the live performance is that I don't see Mick Ronson anywhere. He was in the band during that time period wasn't he?

Mick Ronson was big time on that album (Ziggy Stardust) and remained through Aladdin Sane.

Surprisingly he was not in Diamond Dogs. David himself did most of the guitar work on that album. The exception is "1984" (great tune) where Alan Parker did lead guitar.

I don't know why Ronson does not show up on the live Five Years. But I didn't see him either.
