Don Cherry - Bruins' Chara blasts Hab into stanchion
Guys, this is nothing new in the NHL.
Don Cherry can be a Neanderthal, but he shows an excellent montage of brutal hits from the recent past into stanchions in the NHL, and proposes a pretty bright idea to re-design them. (Ed. note - the "stanchion" is the vertical pillar that holds the glass in place where the rink curves in each team's defensive end).

HA! The hat was awesome! Was this a recent "coaches corner?" Looks like a St Patty's get-up.
Who knew Grapes was also a draftsman and quite a good one too as he so humbly points out.
Gotta love Grapes.
Oh yeah, the stantion thing... great idea. I'm sure there are many better ideas than what they have now and the clips prove that. And what's with all the, what look like definite intentional, checks that drive the opponent into a stantion that could easily cause a carreer ending injury. Very obvious.
Grapes may support rough hockey but definitely not stupidity.
