Deep Purple - Burn - 1974

This is Deep Purple in their heyday with David Coverdale on lead vocal. I remember seeing this on TV back in the day when I was in high school and this vid brings back memories of that. I've never been a big fan of 'itchy' Blackmore (guiter) but this was my favorite band lineup for these guys.

Gotta love that huge wall of Marshall amp's!

Great post, Mark!  Always enjoyed Deep Purple, but mostly seen videos with Ian Gillian singing lead.  This bass player has a very strong voice as well.

I agree with you across the board Mark.

Nobody that was ever born under God on this hallowed earth could ever be as good as Ritchie Blackmore claimed to be (although the SOB was really good).

And I believe this was their best lineup as well. Coverdale's vocals blew Ian Gillan away. Burn was arguably my favorite cut they ever made. As great as a lot of stuff was from "Machine Head" and/or "Who Do We Think We Are" with among others My Woman From Tokyo, and finally an obscure album called "Come Taste The Band" after Blackmore left to form "Rainbow" that featured a rapidly sinking Tommy Bolin, this one really rocked.

Great selection as always, my man...

Catching up on my VID viewing...nice video.  Now that I'm 53 and have some hearing loss along with tinnitus - I wonder if guys like this, that lived their lives in in front of a wall of sound, have any hearing left at all.

Good video - thanks
